Frequently asked questions

How do I join a pack or troop?

Open My Units, search for your unit by name, city, or state, and click Request to join. A unit leader reviews the request; once they accept it, you can upload forms. You'll see a Pending approval badge until then.

Even faster: if your leader gave you an invite link or QR code, open (or scan) it and confirm - you'll join instantly, with no approval to wait for.

Where do I get a blank health form?

The Home page has a banner with download links to the official blank Annual Health & Medical Record: Parts A & B for Cub Scout packs, and Parts A, B & C for Scouts BSA troops. Print it, have it completed, then upload it here.

How do I upload a form?

Go to My Forms and use the upload card: choose a PDF or image (up to 25 MB), pick the family member it belongs to, set the effective date, tick which parts (A & B, and C for troops) the document includes, and click Upload. iPhone .heic photos are converted automatically. The first time, you'll be asked to accept the End User Agreement and Privacy Policy. A leader then reviews the form before it counts as coverage.

Can I add another family member (a spouse, grandparent, or child)?

Yes - on My Forms, use Add a family member: enter their first and last name, and their email if they have one (it's optional - young children can be added without an email; just uncheck This person is an adult for them). You can upload health forms - and SYT certificates, for adults - immediately; they don't have to sign in first. When someone signs in with the email you added, they'll land in your family automatically and appear on your unit's roster.

What is Safeguarding Youth Training (SYT) and how do I submit it?

Every adult who attends camping events must complete Safeguarding Youth Training and give the unit proof. Take the training at the my.scouting.org training center, then upload your completion certificate from My Forms - pick Safeguarding Youth Training certificate as the document type and enter the completion date from the certificate (it's valid for 1 year; the expiration is computed automatically). A leader reviews it like any other document. If you hand the printed certificate to a leader instead, they can record it as a paper copy for you.

How do I update or renew a form?

Just upload a new one for that scout from My Forms - forms expire 12 months after their effective date, and uploading a current one replaces expired coverage. You don't need to delete the old one first.

Can I preview or download my forms?

Yes - each form in My Forms has a Preview button (opens it in the browser, where you can also print it) and a Download button. Both are private to your family and your unit's leaders; there are no public links.

How do I change our family name?

Open Account & data and edit it under Your family. Unit leaders can also rename a family from its page under Membership → Families.

How do I manage email reminders or unsubscribe?

Open Account & data to set how often you get reminder emails (every reminder, monthly digest, or none). Every reminder email also has a one-click unsubscribe link.

Can I get a copy of, or delete, my data?

Yes. From Account & data you can download a copy of your family's data (a ZIP of your forms plus a manifest) and request deletion of your family. You can also delete an individual form with its Delete button, and leaving your last unit (from My Units) permanently deletes all your forms - so download anything you want to keep first.

How we protect your family's data

Health forms are sensitive - here's exactly how they're handled. The Privacy policy has the full details.

  • No passwords to steal - you sign in with Google, Microsoft, Apple, Facebook, or Amazon. We never see or store a password; we keep just your email and name.
  • Only the right eyes - a form is visible to your family, your unit's leaders, and site administrators. Nobody else. There are no public or shareable file links - every view goes through a signed-in, permission-checked request.
  • Encrypted everywhere - forms travel over HTTPS and are stored encrypted with a private key held in a separate secure vault that we control. If that key were ever revoked, the files would instantly become unreadable to anyone.
  • Every access is logged - each time a form is viewed or downloaded, by whom and when, is recorded in an audit log your unit's leaders can review. Because this is minors' health information, "who saw what" is always answerable.
  • Your data stays yours - from Account & data you can download a ZIP of everything anytime, and delete a single form or your entire family yourself (deletion has a short grace period in case of a mistake, then it's permanent). No emails, no waiting on anyone.
  • Email on your terms - choose reminder frequency or turn reminders off; every email has a one-click unsubscribe.

My Units

  • Join a unit - request to join; a leader accepts before you can upload.
  • Pending / Cancel - a pending request can be cancelled before it's accepted.
  • Leave a unit - you can leave anytime; leaving your last unit deletes your forms, so download anything you want to keep first.

My Forms

  • Upload a PDF/image for a family member (picked from the list) with its parts; it's reviewed by a leader (Pending → Approved or Needs changes).
  • Form coverage by scout shows which of your scouts still need a current form, and flags ones expiring soon.
  • If your unit requires certain parts, the upload form warns you when a document is missing one (for example, a troop that needs Part C) - a form missing a required part is turned down when a leader reviews it, so include every part your unit asks for.
  • Preview, Download, or Delete any form; only Approved, non-expired forms count as coverage.

Account & data

  • Email reminders - choose every reminder, a monthly digest, or none; every reminder email also has a one-click unsubscribe link.
  • Download a copy of your family's data (a ZIP of your forms plus a manifest).
  • Request deletion of your family and all its forms.
